MANUSCRIPT WRITING GUIDELINES

A. GENERAL PROVISIONS

  1. The manuscript in these guidelines is a narrative article that represents a scholarly work, either from research findings or conceptual ideas related to the field of law.
  2. Authors whose manuscripts are to be published in the OMNIBUS LAW Journal must create and sign a statement letter declaring that the manuscript is their own work and has not been published in any other media.
  3. Manuscripts should be uploaded through the website http://jurnal.fh.ukaw.ac.id by following the submission process outlined on the site.

B. SPECIFIC WRITING REQUIREMENTS

  1. The language used in the manuscript can be either English or Indonesian.
  2. Manuscripts should be typed on A4 paper with a top and left margin of 4 cm, a bottom and right margin of 3 cm, using Times New Roman font, size 11, and 1.5 line spacing.
  3. The manuscript length should be between 15 to 25 pages.
  4. Writing Structure:
    • Title: The title should be concise, with a maximum of 12 words in Indonesian and 10 words in English.
    • Author’s Name: The author's name should be written without academic titles and should include the correspondence address (agency) and email address. If there are multiple authors, only the primary author’s email should be listed.
    • Abstract and Keywords: The abstract should consist of a maximum of 200 words, including the problem, research method, results, and suggestions, and should be written in both Indonesian and English using Times New Roman font size 11, single-spaced. Keywords should be arranged alphabetically, reflecting the essence of the article, with a maximum of 5 words and a minimum of 3 words.
    • Introduction: The introduction should contain the background of the problem and the formulation of the problem.
    • Research Methodology: The research methodology should include the type of research, the nature of the research, data sources, and data analysis.
    • Discussion: The discussion should present an analysis of the research problem formulation, with each sub-section corresponding to the issue discussed, without the need for numbering.
    • Conclusion: The conclusion should consist of conclusions and suggestions.
    • Bibliography: The bibliography should be written with the same structure as footnotes, except the author's name is reversed (last name first), commas are replaced with periods, the cited page numbers are omitted, and the references should be arranged alphabetically.

The above writing structure for research manuscripts also applies to manuscripts of conceptual ideas, except that there is no problem formulation or research method section.

  1. References: Every citation must include a reference using the footnote format. Footnotes should not contain explanations or additional information and should be typed in Calibri font, size 10, single-spaced.

  2. Footnote Writing:

    • Book:

      • Single Author: The author's name is written without reversal, year of publication, book title, place of publication: publisher's name, page number (abbreviated as "p."). Example: Sudikno Mertokusumo, 1988, Mengenal Hukum, Yogyakarta: Liberty, p. 72.
      • Two Authors: Both authors' names are written without reversal, year of publication, book title, place of publication: publisher's name. Example: Mochtar Kusumaatmadja & R. Etty Agoes, 2003, Pengantar Hukum Internasional, Bandung: PT. Alumni, p. 172.
      • More Than Two Authors: The first author's name is followed by "et al.", year of publication, book title, place of publication: publisher's name. Example: I Gede Yusa, et al., 2016, Hukum Tata Negara, Pasca Perubahan UUD NRI 1945, Malang: Setara Press, p. 45.
      • Chapter in an Edited Book: The author's name, chapter title in quotation marks, editor’s name prefixed by "in", year of publication, book title, place of publication: publisher's name. Example: Moh Fadli, "Non Delegation Doctrine dan Peraturan Delegasi di Indonesia," in Susi Dwi Harijanti (Ed.), 2011, Negara Hukum yang Berkeadilan, Kumpulan Pemikiran Dalam Rangka Purnabakti Prof. Dr. H. Bagir Manan, Bandung: Pusat Studi Kebijakan Negara Fakultas Hukum Universitas Padjajaran (PSKN FH UNPAD), p. 30.
    • Journal:

      • Single Author: The author's name, "Title of the article in quotation marks", journal name, volume and issue number in italics, month and year of publication in parentheses, page number. Example: Etty R. Agoes, "Praktek Negara-Negara Atas Konsepsi Negara Kepulauan", Jurnal Hukum Internasional, Vol. 1, No. 3, (April 2004), p. 457-458.
      • Two Authors: Both authors' names are written out completely, "Title of the article in quotation marks", journal name, volume and issue number in italics, month and year of publication in parentheses, page number. Example: Sudjatmiko and Rusdi Ridwan, "Batas-Batas Maritim antara Republik Indonesia dengan Negara Tetangga", Jurnal Hukum Internasional, Edisi Khusus, Lembaga Pengkajian Hukum Internasional Fakultas Hukum Universitas Indonesia, (December 2004), p. 104.
      • More Than Two Authors: The first author's name, followed by "et al.", "Title of the article in quotation marks", journal name, volume and issue number in italics, month and year of publication in parentheses, page number. Example: James T. Potemra, et al., "Interaction Between the Indonesia and the Indian Ocean in Observations and Numerical Models", Journal of Physical Oceanography, Vol. 32, (June 2002), p. 1845.
    • Newspaper:

      • Author’s name, "Title of the article in quotation marks," newspaper name, (date, month, year of publication), page number. Example: Bartens, "Abortion Amid the 'Pro-Life'-'Pro-Choice' Polarization", Kompas, (11 October 2012), p. 89. Rajiv Chandrasekaran, "Amnesty Efforts Lag in Afghanistan", Washington Post, (19 May 2011), p. 1.
    • Thesis/Dissertation:

      • Author’s name, year of writing, "Title in quotation marks", type of work (thesis, dissertation), field of study, place of writing, followed by faculty and university name, page number. Example: Yanto M.P. Ekon, 2018, "The Influence of the Distribution of Power over Timor Island by the Dutch-Portuguese on the Determination of Indonesia-Timor Leste Border", Doctoral Dissertation in Law, Yogyakarta: Faculty of Law, Gadjah Mada University, p. 90.
    • Printed and Online Papers:

      • Printed Papers: Author’s name, Title of the article in italics, place of writing or presentation, date, month, and year of writing or presentation, page number. Example: Tara Devenport, Southeast Asian Approaches To Maritime Delimitation, (Paper Presented at the 3rd NUS ASIANSIL Young Scholars Workshop, National University of Singapore: Research Associate, Centre for International Law, 23-24 February 2012), p. 1.
      • Online Papers: The citation is the same as for printed papers, but add the website and access date. Example: ITLOS Judgment, Dispute Concerning Delimitation of the Maritime Boundary Between Bangladesh and Myanmar in the Bay of Bengal, Bangladesh Vs Myanmar No. 16, 2012 https://www.itlos.org/cases/list-of-cases/case-no-16” accessed on 17 September 2017.     • Legislation and Court Decisions:

      • Article, number of the legislation or international agreement, while court decisions include the decision number and page number. Example: Article 5 of Law No. 12 of 2011 on the Formation of Legislation. South Jakarta District Court Decision Number: 04/Pid.Prap/2015/PN.Jkt.Sel. concerning the Determination of Suspects, p. 242-243. Constitutional Court Decision Number: 005/PUU-IV/2006, p. 83.     • Ibid. is written in italics followed by a period, with the first letter capitalized; op. cit. and loc. cit. are written in italics with lowercase letters followed by a period.

C. ELIGIBILITY ASSESSMENT:

Each manuscript that meets the writing format standards as determined by the Editorial Board will be substantively reviewed by a Peer Reviewer according to their area of expertise.
The author is required to revise the manuscript according to the suggestions from the Editorial Board and the Peer Reviewer’s notes within 7 (seven) days. Manuscripts that are rejected will be returned to the author with reasons for rejection.
The decision on whether a manuscript is eligible for publication is made by the Omni Bus Law Journal Team through Peer Reviewers, which will then be communicated to the author.
